A Holistic Education from Kindergarten to High School with Emphasis on Shamanic Teachings, STEM, Humanities, and Physical Health

This is a draft of a developing proposal.

1. Introduction

The 'Awakening the Soul' curriculum is an innovative educational framework designed to nurture free-thinking, culturally rooted, and spiritually aware individuals. Spanning from kindergarten to 12th grade, this curriculum integrates shamanic wisdom, Catholic teachings, Western and Eastern philosophy, STEM subjects, and physical health education. It aims to develop students into leaders who embody courage, love, empathy, wisdom, humility, and fearlessness.

2. Core Philosophical Framework

This curriculum is built on the principles of holistic education, integrating intellectual, spiritual, and physical development. It draws heavily on shamanic teachings, emphasizing respect for nature, the interconnectedness of all life, and the pursuit of wisdom and love. Shamanic teachings are complemented by Catholic values of humility, sacrifice, and leadership, as well as insights from Western and Eastern philosophy.

2.1 Shamanic Teachings

- Love: Cultivating unconditional love for everyone, oneself, others, and the natural world. - Courage: Encouraging students to face challenges with bravery and resilience. - Strength: Developing inner and outer strength through discipline and practice. - Leadership: Teaching responsibility, vision, and the ability to inspire others. - Respect for Nature: Instilling a deep appreciation for the environment and its balance. - Humility: Understanding one’s place within a larger interconnected universe. - Hospitality: Learning to welcome and care for others with an open heart. - Fearlessness: Overcoming fear through wisdom, self-awareness, and trust in oneself. - Empathy: Cultivating the ability to understand and share the feelings of others. - Wisdom: Pursuing knowledge that fosters growth and understanding. - Meditation: Incorporating practices that calm the mind and promote introspection.

2.2 Integration with Catholic Teachings

- Humility: Inspired by the teachings of Jesus Christ, students learn the value of selflessness and compassion. - Sacrifice: Understanding the importance of working for the greater good. - Forgiveness: Developing the ability to forgive oneself and others as a path to healing.

2.3 Western and Eastern Philosophies

- Western Philosophy: Introducing concepts from Plato, Aristotle, and existential thinkers like Sartre and Kierkegaard. - Eastern Philosophy: Exploring Confucian principles of harmony and Taoist ideas of balance and flow. - Comparative Analysis: Encouraging students to draw connections between diverse traditions.
